Old tactics fool 16lb Lea barbel

Barbel expert Ray Kent relied on classic centrepin tactics to beat a 16lb whiskers from the River Lea.

The Barbel Society Records Officer was fishing on the famous Kings Weir fishery when the specimen caused his reel to scream into life.

Ray legered a lump of luncheon meat, on his ‘pin loaded with 10lb line, and also banked two other doubles of 12lb and 11lb to complete a remarkable hat-trick.
