Hottest pike ticket in UK as Blagdon opens doors

Would-be record hunters are being given the chance to get hold of the hottest ticket in predator fishing after Blagdon Lake announced it is to allow limited access to pikers.

The 440-acre Somerset venue will open its doors for two weeks in October – but anglers will be restricted to using flies, with lures and deadbaits banned.

But despite the handicap, demand has already exceeded supply – even with boats costing £400 a day.

Blagdon is owned by Bristol Water Fisheres – the same organisation that owns neighbouring Chew Valley Lake. And with Chew having provided some of the finest big pike fishing in modern history, there are no shortage of takers for the premium-priced tickets.

A ballot will be held for those wanting a ticket, with a limited number of places also available on internet auction site, eBay.
